Viana accuses Alcolumbre of ordering the Senate floor locked to prevent senators critical of the chamber&#8217;s conduct from speaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The locked-door episode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a video posted on social media, Viana showed the plenary chamber&#8217;s doors closed and said staff told him the order came from the presidency. According to the senator, he had spent 20 days trying to discuss &#8220;the Senate&#8217;s most serious issues&#8221; with Alcolumbre without a response. Viana had already filed a petition with the Ethics Council seeking an inquiry into the Senate president&#8217;s conduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Viana linked the closure to the Senate&#8217;s delay in taking up impeachment requests against Supreme Court justices, as well as a Court session addressing the case involving Justice Alexandre de Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro, of the now-defunct Banco Master. Reporters reached out to Alcolumbre for comment on the episode but received no response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New allegations tied to Banco Master<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a new statement on Friday (25), Viana escalated his criticism, saying the Senate needs to investigate Alcolumbre&#8217;s relationship with Daniel Vorcaro. According to the senator, conversations between the two \u2014 which the Senate presidency had previously denied \u2014 point to &#8220;a conflict of interest&#8221; behind the decision to keep the plenary locked.
