Brazilian industrial production grew 0.2% in July 2026 compared with June. The result broke a streak of two consecutive months of decline. The data come from the Monthly Industrial Survey \u2013 Physical Production (PIM-PF), from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In addition, the result confirms a gradual recovery for the sector, which had been struggling since the start of the second quarter of the year.<\/p>\n
For the year to date, national industry shows growth of 1.1%. In the 12-month accumulated indicator, growth stands at 0.6%. In fact, according to IBGE, that result represents a “slight loss of momentum” compared with June, when the 12-month figure stood at 0.7%. Compared with July 2025, however, industrial production still shows a decline of 0.5%.<\/p>\n
Among the four broad economic categories surveyed, three posted gains from June to July. Durable consumer goods led, with growth of 3.2%. Next came capital goods, with growth of 2.4%, and semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods, with growth of 0.5%. On the other hand, intermediate goods were the only category to decline in the period, with a drop of 0.2%.<\/p>\n
Looking at sectors, the strongest gains came from computer, electronic, and optical equipment, which grew 12.2%. Next came motor vehicles, trailers, and bodywork, with growth of 11.2%, and tobacco products, with growth of 11.1%. On the negative side, mining industries fell 1.0%, and the printing and reproduction of recordings sector posted the sharpest decline, at 17.2%.<\/p>\n
The IBGE diffusion index<\/a> measures the share of surveyed products with a positive result. Also, that indicator stood at around 70% in July, the second-best mark of the year. Thus, the recovery, though modest, reached a large share of industrial segments.
