This method accounts for periods with different numbers of working days.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to interpret the trade surplus<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, the percentage does not come from directly comparing US$58.674 billion with US$46.3 billion. The official table compares daily averages and covers periods of different lengths. Readers should keep that method in mind when comparing the totals.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The surplus was US$1.548 billion in September\u2019s second week alone. Meanwhile, the cumulative balance for the first two weeks of the month reached US$3.356 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Forecast for the full year<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its July forecast update, MDIC projected a trade surplus of US$90 billion for 2026 as a whole. That estimate combines US$394.4 billion in exports with US$304.4 billion in imports.
