Corinthians missed their player sales target in the mid-year transfer window of 2026. As a result, the club was studying an advance on 2027 revenue to support its finances. The target was €25 million in net proceeds, about R$148 million at the exchange rate cited by ge on September 13.
Why Corinthians missed their player sales target
Nottingham Forest offered €12 million, approximately R$72 million, for midfielder André. However, Corinthians considered the offer too low. According to the report, the club wanted £15 million, roughly R$105 million, plus £6 million in bonuses.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s Besiktas expressed interest in Breno Bidon, with a possible deal worth around R$107 million. But the club did not submit a formal offer within the negotiating deadline. Neither transfer therefore went through during the window.
An advance on future income remained under consideration
Corinthians recorded a R$246 million deficit in the first half of 2026. Against that backdrop, the finance department was considering bringing forward up to 30% of the revenue expected for 2027.
This would provide money sooner. However, it would also leave less of that income available in the following year. The proposal was an option under review, rather than a completed transaction. Its purpose was to offset the shortfall in transfer income.
In addition, the report described three transfer bans in force. These restrictions prevent the registration of new players. Three separate bans do not, by themselves, mean a suspension lasting three transfer windows.
