Police search for boyfriend of law student found dead in Fortaleza

Civil Police in the state of Ceará are searching for the boyfriend of Isabelle Caracristi, 22, a law student found dead in an apartment in the Aldeota neighborhood of Fortaleza on September 13. The suspect, 33, was her boss at a law firm and remains at large.

What is known about the case

According to the forensic report, the death was caused by multiple trauma consistent with a fall from a window, at around 8:40 p.m. Toxicology tests came back negative. Her family grew concerned after losing contact with her and alerted the building manager, who confirmed the body had already been removed by the coroner’s office.

Isabelle and the suspect had been dating for about two months, since July. Relatives describe the relationship as “controlling,” saying he had asked for her credit card. Her mother had already raised concerns about his behavior before her death.

Ongoing investigation

Police have taken statements from four witnesses, with four more interviews scheduled. Search warrants have been carried out, including at the suspect’s mother’s home, where a phone and tablet were seized. Forensic analysis is ongoing, including DNA testing and review of security and drone footage.

The case remains under investigation by Ceará’s Civil Police.
