Born in Salvador, the author is a geographer with a doctorate in Ethnic and African Studies. His writing explores memory, ancestry and social inequality. In addition, his work has earned major literary awards, including the LeYa, Oceanos and Jabuti prizes.
His books include the short-story collections Dias and A Oração do Carrasco. Meanwhile, the bestselling novel Torto Arado has sold more than one million copies, according to the program announcement.
The author completed his “Trilogia da Terra” with Salvar o Fogo and Coração sem Medo. He also wrote the children’s book Chupim. Together, these titles show the different forms and audiences within his work.

The broadcaster serves Rio de Janeiro on AM 800 kHz and FM 99.3 MHz. In Brasília, it broadcasts on AM 800 kHz and FM 87.1 MHz. Listeners in Belo Horizonte can also tune in to FM 87.1 MHz.
