Antonio Lacerda Bacellar Municipal School, in the Jardim Serrano neighborhood of Ribeirao Pires, is holding a special program throughout September on inclusion, accessibility and traffic education, bringing together students of different age groups for themed activities.
Visual impairment awareness
On Monday (21), the school held a visual impairment awareness activity in its courtyard, in both the morning and afternoon. In the morning, students from the 3rd to 5th grade (ages 8 to 10) took part; in the afternoon, the activity brought together classes from kindergarten through 2nd grade.
The event featured a theatrical performance and the participation of Valdecir Ramalho de Sousa and Marcia de Oliveira Freitas Ramalho de Sousa, both visually impaired, who shared their experiences about daily routine, autonomy and accessibility.
“Everything I saw and heard today showed how important it is to learn more about visual impairment and about different forms of disability. Often, some people need support to carry out certain activities, and that’s why we must learn to help, respect and stand by those who need it.”

Deaf community and Traffic Safety Week
On Friday (25), the school will hold an activity about the deaf community, marking National Deaf Day, celebrated on September 26 in Brazil. The event takes place at 2pm in the school courtyard, with a student from the school distributing informational materials, and a presentation supported by Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) interpreter Soraia, covering different forms of communication and the importance of sign language.
The program wraps up on the 30th with the presentation “Traffic Representatives,” at the school’s sports court, at 9am and 2pm. The activity is part of Traffic Safety Week and will address safety, respect for rules, responsibility and coexistence in public spaces.
