Ribeirão Pires officially launched a fleet of 100 shared electric scooters on Tuesday (22). The city government rolled out the service in partnership with the company JET, as part of the city’s activities marking World Car Free Day, held on the same date.
How the scooter-sharing service works
The GO JET app manages the entire service and is available for Android and iOS. Through the app, users can locate nearby scooters and unlock trips; the minimum age required is 18.
For now, the service covers five neighborhoods: Estância Noblesse, Santana, Vila Caiçara, Colônia and Bosque Santana. A GPS system tracks each scooter, and the maximum allowed speed is 20 km/h.
Among the rules, the app bans carrying passengers, using the scooters for deliveries, or hauling heavy cargo. At the end of each trip, riders must also submit, through the app, a photo confirming the scooter was parked correctly.
