Santo André Mayor Gilvan Ferreira visited the headquarters of the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF) on Tuesday (22) and offered the city as a venue to host the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior — Brazil’s premier youth tournament, known as Copinha — starting in 2027.

Gilvan was received by FPF president Reinaldo Carneiro and was accompanied by Esporte Clube Santo André president Celso Luiz de Almeida, along with representatives from Tatemono, the company negotiating the acquisition of the club’s football department.
According to the mayor, the goal is to bring the tournament back and, above all, open up opportunities for young players hoping to build a career in football.
The city hosted the competition for two consecutive years at Bruno José Daniel Stadium but sat out the 2026 edition due to financial difficulties. Esporte Clube Santo André, nicknamed Ramalhão, has won the tournament once, in 2003.
